THE NEWS

๐Ÿ”งChanges to ChatGPT bring errors and huge demand

Since OpenAI hosted its Dev Day last week and unveiled GPTs - personalized chatbots - everyone and their grandma wants in, causing a user tsunami so big, OpenAI had to hit the brakes on new ChatGPT Plus sign-ups.

The excitement surrounding these customizable GPTs and the upcoming GPT Store, where users can sell their chatbots, seems to have caught the company by surprise.

However the community isnโ€™t happy. The lags and errors made it difficult and sometimes even impossible to use the program.

ChatGPT went from only accepting text a few months ago to now handling pictures, voice input and 300 page PDFs. For GPTs you can upload multiple massive documents the program pulls data from.

The lags and errors seem to stem from the increased data and CPU demand of these new features.

OGs also complain about the new GPT-4 Turbo engine; they feel there has been a decrease in some capabilities, such as coding, while content filtering has become stricter.

They are right! OpenAI acknowledged some of these issues by releasing a new version of GPT-4 Turbo last week, but some issues still persist.

Let's hope OpenAI can fix this soon. Until then, those of you with a Plus subscription can feel a little special; itโ€™s now an exclusive club.

๐Ÿ“นYoutube to start labeling AI content

YouTube is stepping up in the AI age by introducing a new policy to identify AI-generated content. Creators will soon need to label realistic-looking altered or synthetic videos, so viewers know when they're watching something crafted by artificial intelligence.

And there's a twist: if a video uses AI to mimic someone's face or voiceโ€”i.e. making it seem like a celebrity said something they didn'tโ€”people can ask YouTube to remove it.

The decision to remove isn't straightforward, though. YouTube will weigh factors like parody and public interest, particularly for content involving public figures.

For the music world, this policy also extends to AI-generated tunes that copy an artist's voice. Music labels will have the power to request the removal of such content.

Itโ€™s about deepfakes. YouTube's shift to AI goes beyond labeling. They're increasingly using AI for content moderation and to stay ahead of emerging issues, particularly the challenge posed by evolving deepfake technology.

They're committed to curbing misleading content that could be harmful, especially in videos covering sensitive topics like elections or public health. These videos will also have a visible label, ensuring viewers are fully informed about the content they're watching.
