πŸ„ GPT-5 is coming

Sam Altman confirmed: they are working on it, ChatGPT might replace Siri and Alexa

Hello SurfersπŸ„!

People are creating custom GPTs left and right, and I've started experimenting with them as well. I'll share my findings and experiences with you soon.

Here’s your quick dive into today's AI highlights:

THE NEWS

πŸ€–OpenAI is working on GPT-5.

Sam Altman just dropped some exciting news: OpenAI is already cooking up GPT-5! Earlier this year, they said they were not training GPT-5 yet, but now the CEO has confirmed it's in the works. But here's the catch – finding the right training data is like hunting for treasure. With most of what is available online already used, Altman is scouting for companies with unique data sets, that you can’t find online, to deepen GPT-5’s knowledge.

So, where's the money for all this coming from? Enter Microsoft, OpenAI's financial powerhouse. They've already invested a whopping $10 billion, and Altman's betting on them to keep the cash flowing. Why? Because developing AI isn't exactly a small change operation.

Now, despite OpenAI's revenue getting a boost this year, they're still burning cash faster than they're making it. The main culprit? You guessed it – the hefty price tag of AI training.

Altman's vision is all about pushing the boundaries of AI and eventually creating AGI. With OpenAI keeping the pedal to the metal, the pressure is mounting on the competitors like Google to release something similar in capabilities.

πŸ“±Siri, Alexa you’re fired! ChatGPT can navigate our phone better.

Researchers gave ChatGPT a phone to test how an AI with Vision can control it. Their agent called β€œNavigator” combines AI vision and voice recognition.

Imagine you're lounging on your couch dreaming about a vacation. You tell your phone, 'Hey, find me a cool hotel in Hawaii for four people.' Normally, your phone would just blink at you. But with Navigator? It's like, 'Cool, let's hit up Booking.com,' and boom, it's searching for Hawaiian hotels before you can even daydream about the beach.

The Navigator was tested with iPhones (iOS) and Android phones. It was really good at figuring out what to do just by looking at the phone's screen and hearing the instruction – it got it right about 75% of the time for iPhones and did even better with Android phones.

It's like having a super-smart friend who can look at your phone and instantly know what you want to do.

Here's an example: If you asked Navigator to open a new tab in your browser, but the plus button you usually click is not working, it can figure out that you have too many tabs open. It will then suggest closing some tabs first, and then trying the plus button again.

This isn't just a fancier version of Siri or Alexa who can set timers and play a song on Spotify. This is the future, folks – a world where you write down a to-do list, and your phone starts ticking things off like a hyper-efficient robot. Welcome to the era of phones that won't just listen but actually understand and do stuff. Mind-blowing, isn't it?
