🤖Google's Bard can now connect to Gmail, Google Maps, Drive, and YouTube

In response to the success of ChatGPT, Google launched its own chatbot Bard in March. It wasn’t a big success initially, but Google has been working on it ever since. Yesterday, Bard entered a new chapter with the launch of Extensions.

Extensions allow Bard to pull relevant data from Google’s products: Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, and even travel-centric services like Flights and hotels.

Imagine planning a trip; Bard can access Gmail to determine suitable dates for everyone, fetch real-time flight and hotel info, provide Google Maps directions, and even suggest YouTube clips related to your destination. All within a single Bard chat.

Job hunters aren't left out either. Bard can swiftly retrieve a resume from Drive, transform it into a concise personal statement, and then assist in drafting a cover letter.

Have concerns about Google’s AI reading your data? Google promised that Bard will not mine your Gmail, Docs, or Drive for advertising. Plus, your data won't be reviewed by humans or used in training the AI model.

The company also added a "Google it" button that refines Bard’s accuracy. Clicking this lets Bard cross-check its responses against the web, allowing users to validate or challenge information.

Bard hasn’t been the number one choice for most chatbot users, but this might change now that it is edging towards becoming an all-encompassing AI powered assistant. Something ChatGPT cannot offer.

So far AI narrated audiobooks have not lived up to their promise. They are cheap to produce, but the lack of emphasis and monotone voice makes them unenjoyable.
