Hootsuite's report predicts an AI future, Gmail gets AI powered spam protection

Hello SurfersπŸ„!

Reading Hootsuite's latest survey made me think about how much AI is being used in social media these days. Do you suspect any of the people or brands you follow rely heavily on AI to write their posts?

Here’s the deal with AI today:

THE NEWS

πŸ¦‰ Hootsuite predicts that AI use will skyrocket in 2024 on social media

Hootsuite, a leader in social media management, has released its annual social media trends report, and guess who’s stealing the spotlight? You got it – AI!

Between 2022 and 2023, interest in AI skyrocketed. The report reveals that discussions about AI surged by 550% on news sites and blogs.

61% of companies are using AI to help their social media teams with their workload. But there's more to it. Companies are really going for it in 2024, planning to use a lot more AI – like two, three, or even four times more.

What are they focusing on? The biggest surge will be in: revising text, editing images, and providing customer service.

BUT: While marketers are jumping on the AI bandwagon like there's no tomorrow, audiences aren't exactly giving it a standing ovation. There's a bit of a trust issue when they know AI's behind the curtain.

However, not everyone's skeptical. Younger folks, especially Gen Z, are more AI-friendly. They're cool with AI content and claim they can spot the difference in a heartbeat.

Now, let’s be real: Some AI texts still end up as stylish gibberish. No one wants to spend their time on something that's all sizzle and no steak, right?

So right now, the name of the game is β€œDon’t say it was made by AI.” It’s an instant turn off.

However AI's getting smarter super fast, and by next year, AI-written texts are going to be top-quality. Spotting the difference between what's written by AI and what's penned by a human? That's going to get way harder. So, soon enough, people might not even bother wondering if it's a person or AI behind that awesome post.

2024 Prediction: Hootsuite predicts that the big winners in the brand world will be those who give 'authenticity' a whole new spin. It's no longer just about who's behind your content, whether it's a person or AI. What really counts is the experience that your content delivers to your customers.
